ELI Admissions

How do I apply to the program?

  1. Complete the ELI application. (Click to download)
  2. Obtain transcripts of the last school you attended in your home country. This could be high school or university. The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is NOT required. They must be in English.
  3. Submit applications, transcripts, and a non-refundable $150 US application fee to the address below. The submitted documents cannot be returned.

How do I apply for an F-1 Student Visa?

  1. With your application, submit an official bank letter (with English translation) indicating that you or your sponsor has at least USD$14,000 or the equivalent in foreign currency to support you during your studies at Mercer. If you plan to bring your spouse, it will be an additional USD$6,000 and for each child, an additional USD$3,000.
  2. If you have a sponsor, he/she must sign the ELI application stating that he/she is financially responsible for you while you are here. If you are applying online, your sponsor will need to submit a letter in English, explaining that he/she will be responsible for your expenses.
  3. If you are being sponsored by someone who lives in the United States, your sponsor needs to submit form I-134 “Affidavit of Support.” This form must be notarized. It can be found online at uscis.gov.

What happens after I submit my application?

  1. As soon as we receive your documents, we will process them and give you a quick reply.
  2. If you are requesting an F-1 Student visa and are accepted into our program, we will send you form I-20 that you will take to the American Consulate in your country. The American Consulate will issue you the visa that will be stamped in your passport.

Conditional Acceptance to Mercer University

Most undergraduate programs and some graduate programs will consider highly qualified students for conditional admissions before the student completes the English Language Institute.
