Macon Campus Orientation
The 2016 International Student Orientation program will run from Wednesday, August 17 – Friday, August 19. A full orientation schedule will be sent to all accepted students at the start of August.
All students are encouraged to fly into Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Wednesday, August 17. Pre-confirmed students will be provided with a shared hotel room for the evening of Wednesday, August 17 and be welcomed by staff from the Office of International Programs and Office of Admissions.
On the morning of August 18, students who elected to stay at the group hotel will travel by coach bus to Mercer University’s campus in Macon, Georgia. The cost of the shared hotel room and transportation is at no additional fee to the student.
If students will not be arriving through the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Wednesday, August 17 they will need to speak directly with Nicole H. Baker, International Student Advisor for Mercer University’s Macon Campus.
Freshman, transfer students and exchange students will have priority for moving into their residence halls on the morning of August 18 and proceed with the on-campus international student orientation schedule until the afternoon of Friday, August 19.
Upon completion of international student orientation, all freshman and exchange students will participate in the Bear Beginnings program! Bear Beginnings is run through the Office of Academic and Advising Services and will take place from Saturday, August 20 – Monday, August 22.

International Student Orientation: January 5-7, 2016
Exchange Students studying on a J-1 visa should arrive to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Thursday, January 5, 2017.
Upon arrival to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, it is recommended that you use Groome Transportation to travel to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Groome Transportation shuttles depart from the domestic terminal’s ground transportation area. Please review their most current departure schedule to determine if this service will be best for your circumstances.
You must arrive to Mercer University between 9am-4pm on Thursday, January 5.
You should instruct the Groome driver, taxi driver, or your Uber driver to drop you off at Mercer University’s Connell Student Center. There you will be greeted by Office of International Programs staff.
Your orientation program will start on Thursday, January 5 with your official check-in. You will have priority move-in to access your on-campus residence hall on this day. In the evening we will travel as a group to Walmart to shop for all of your comfort needs.
On Friday, January 6, you will participate in the Mercer University new student orientation.
International Student Orientation ends on Saturday, January 7 with a mandatory immigration session and the collection of your international student documents.
