The ELI has 4 levels of instruction for students from Beginner to Academic proficiency. Placement in a level is determined by the results of the following two tests:
1) International Test of English Proficiency (iTEP) -assesses gramar, listening, and reading. This test is done on the computer and lasts approximately 50 minutes. Be sure to bring your own headphones.
2) Writing Test assesses organization, vocabulary, grammar, and content of the composition on a given topic. The length of the test is approximately 40 minutes.
iTEP and Writing Test together are the official ELI Placement Test, and all new students are required to take it. No students will be placed into classes without taking the ELI placement test.
